How to Approach Online Dating

If you find yourself in the dating scene right now, you may be wondering (or stressing) about online dating. Should you or shouldn’t you? Isn’t everyone online weird and desperate? You’re obviously too cool and good looking to be online...right?

Here’s my take on online dating, one that I think you’ll find refreshing!

Don’t take it too seriously, or as a means to an end (the end being finding someone to make your boyfriend/girlfriend), but rather, approach it with a sense of curiosity and fun.

That’s if you choose to go online in the first place.

I only suggest my clients ever do things from a place of feeling good. Feeling aligned, enthusiastic and excited to explore is really the only way to go online, if you decide to. If you want to have positive experiences (which may or may not lead to a serious relationship), you gotta go in with good vibes, ready to simply connect with new people.

Otherwise, if you’re feeling insecure or weird about it, you’ll likely encounter situations and people that magnify those feelings. In that case, instead of focusing so much on the "dating" aspect of things, join classes, workshops, meetups and do things that you love - not for the sake of finding someone (the energy of finding and looking keep people out of sight), but more so for the sake of enjoying your life - right now.  This actually goes for everyone, online or not, single, dating or married.

If you decide to give online a go (and hey, why not?), choose your perspective wisely. Go in with an open mind, ready for adventure (and possibly some interesting stories), and with the attitude that this is practice - an opportunity to warm up your dating muscles.

Your mindset is everything and will be felt by those that you meet. If you can take the pressure off of online dating by seeing this as an opportunity to diversify your life and get to know people, you open up the chances of having positive experiences. And whenever it stops feeling this way, I say, take a break.

As much as you want to have that life partner, like I want to write a book or host an international retreat, the fun truly is in the journey of it all. And by letting yourself enjoy this moment, you not only get to be joyful now but you also increase your chances of meeting equally joyful people - on or offline.

I hope this helps to give you a fresh perspective if you’re considering the online world! It’s just one of many avenues to expand and explore all that this world has to offer.

Peace & love,

Diana
