Connection Comes From Calmness

First comes calmness, then comes everything else. But the truth is, we almost always think of it the other way around; “I’ll feel calm when I find my love, when I know what to do with my life, when I have all the answers.” As we discussed last week, it just doesn’t work that way. This week, we'll explore the other piece of the puzzle: how connection comes from calmness.

The thing most of us crave is genuine connection, with ourselves and with someone else. We want that feeling of closeness, bonding, deep understanding and pure present-minded joy.

So let me ask you...is it possible to connect with someone, when you yourself aren’t connected? And is it possible to be connected, when you’re feeling anxious and off balance?

One of the questions I’m most often asked is, how do you keep that feeling of being in love alive after years of being together? And consistently my response is, "by being present", which ultimately, requires you to be calm and grounded.

That’s a tall order, I know; and this is why dedicating time everyday (or most days) to meditation and finding your calm is so important. Otherwise, how can you expect to connect with someone if you’re stressing about the past or future, if you're anxious and uncertain?

"Meditation and love are such close phenomena that if you move into meditation, your love energies start overflowing.", Osho

When I block out time to take care of myself, mind, body and spirit, when I do what I need to do in order to stay calm and happy, there’s harmony between my husband and I. And when I don’t take that time and start feeling rushed and stressed, trust me when I say, that shows up too.If there’s one thing you need to hear loud and clear it’s that the pathway to everything you want comes from your calmness - this is your place of power. You have to be “connected” to connect with another, and you have to be calm to be connected.

Peace, love and connection comes from calmness,

Diana
