Breaking the Cycle

Woman on cliff

I sometimes wonder how someone who’s had a difficult life and upbringing might feel when reading my posts. That perhaps they may think it’s easy to be positive when your life’s been relatively painless. And that's why I'd like to emphasize the importance of breaking the cycle, especially for those who’ve had it rough.

It’s something that I often think about it when I see a pregnant lady smoking a cigarette, or a mother dragging her kids down the street, yelling and breaking their spirits one by one, or a toddler who stands around while his or her parents get drunk on the streets at 10am…I think to myself, 'what kind of chance does this little human have with such a difficult start.' But I always come to the same conclusion. While it may be a further journey from where they are to where they want to go, it’s up to that little boy or girl, who then becomes an adult immersed into this world, to break the cycle and create a new story.

The thing is, each and every one of us has a cycle to break. Maybe we've been brought up with a poverty mentality, or drowned in prejudices that don't serve us. Whatever the case may be, we all have stories and elements of our past that no longer serve us; we all have something that we need to take into our own hands, because if we don’t, we'll continue to bear more children with the same issues, who will then bear more children…and well, you know how the story goes.

Somewhere along the line, the cycle has to stop. Someone, you and I, have to take things into our hands and say it's time for a change. Each life is a new opportunity for joy, abundance and love - these are our Universe-given rights. And it’s up to us to not only believe this, but to know it in the core of our beings - from a place that will not let us settle for anything less. Regardless of what your story has been this far, there's always an opportunity to change the course of your path.

Stop allowing your pasts to be an excuse for the future you think you can’t have. Pull up those boot straps and be the one to not only break the cycle, but to change it for the absolute better.

You are a powerful being; but you will only ever know your true power, once you decide to acknowledge it.

Peace, love and breaking the cycle,

Diana
